Uma justa homenagem ao político que ficou conhecido como "Trator do Sertão".
Uma lei de autoria dos vereadores José Batista da Gama, Ronaldo Silva e Ronaldo Souza foi sancionada pelo prefeito como forma de deixar marcado o nome de Geraldo Coelho no coração de Petrolina. Localizado na área central da cidade e com 6 km de extensão, o corredor foi construído pelo político homenageado, quando prefeito, em 1975.
Uma justa homenagem ao político que ficou conhecido como “Trator do Sertão”. Neste sábado (24), o prefeito de Petrolina,miguel coelho, num ato simbólico, reinaugurou a avenida da integração, que agora passa a se chamar também deputado Geraldo Coelho. A homenagem foi realizada durante as cerimônias por um ano de falecimento do político sertanejo, que ocorreram na fundação Nilo Coelho.
No evento, ainda foi inaugurado um memorial na Fundação Nilo Coelho para contar a história do saudoso político sertanejo. Geraldo Coelho viveu até os 92 anos. Na sua vida política, exerceu os cargos de prefeito, vereador de petrolina e deputado estadual.Entre seus feitos, chamam a atenção, além da Avenida da Integração, a construção do Viaduto dos Barranqueiros, o Museu do Sertão e a FACAPE.
