O ministro da Integração Nacional, Helder Barbalho (PMDB), esteve em Petrolina nesta quinta-feira (30), onde fez a liberação de R$ 100 milhões para o Projeto Pontal de Irrigação, os recursos são do Programa ‘Avançar’ do governo federal. Diversos políticos vieram com a comitiva, dentre eles , o presidente da Companhia de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do São Francisco e do Parnaíba (Codevasf), Avelino Neiva, e lideranças políticas da região. O evento aconteceu no auditório do Hotel Petrolina Palace, na Orla da cidade.
Essas receitas vão permitir a execução da primeira etapa do Projeto Pontal, com cerca de 300 lotes para colonos e 20 lotes empresariais. A ideia é abranger uma área superior a três mil hectares irrigados em Petrolina. . “Hoje estamos garantindo obras na ordem de R$ 32 milhões e estamos assegurando para o ano de 2018 a conclusão desta etapa do Projeto Pontal”, garantiu o ministro.
Segundo informações, a ultimação do Projeto Pontal está avaliada em R$ 300 milhões. Na primeira etapa serão 100 milhões, que são fundamentais para a aquisição de equipamentos. O Projeto Pontal poderá , em pouco prazo aumentar em 20% a capacidade de produção de Petrolina.
