Em Petrolina, o nome do ex-prefeito Guilherme Coelho, está sendo cogitado para ser candidato a prefeito em 2024.Porém, para seus eleitores, essa estória, ao que parece não tem sido bem aceita por aqueles que conhecem o ex-prefeito. Assessor especial da governadora Raquel Lyra, Guilherme, está dando a entender que o candidato será o vereador Ronaldo Silva, braço direito e amigo do ex-prefeito. Ronaldo, que agora é oposição ao grupo do prefeito Simão, tem trabalhado para expor as mazelas da cidade.
Guilherme que sempre atuou nos bastidores da política petrolinense, mesmo estando como deputado federal,formou seu grupo com pessoas interessantes e, agora, como presidente da Abrafrutas, segundo informações, prefere não misturar as estações e lutará para que seu pupilo chegue na prefeitura de Petrolina, a mesma que o lançou na vida política.
Porém, alguns aliados, não querem que assim seja feito, até porquê, apesar do vereador ser bom articulador, segundo informações, não consegue ser “simpático” e, às vezes, constrange seus eleitores,principalmente aqueles que sempre vão ao seu gabinete para pedir favores ao parlamentar. Para seus chegados, esse é o momento certo para Guilherme enfrentar uma campanha, já que quem está no comando da prefeitura,não tem envergadura e nem nome de peso que confronte um “Coelho”.
Para muitos, Simão Durando nunca foi testado em urnas eleitorais, nunca teve voto e chegou ao poder por mero acaso do destino.
