O ex-prefeito Julio Lóssio, hoje na Rede Sustentabilidade, teve como marcas principais nos seus dois governos em Petrolina-PE, entre 2009 e 2016, programas e ações voltadas para a área social. Julio mudou a forma de levar creches até pais e filhos, uma das demandas mais cobradas até então no município.
Foram implantadas quase 200 unidades e mais de 10 mil crianças foram atendidas pelo Programa Nova Semente que atendia em tempo integral, crianças de 0 a 5 anos e com cinco refeições diárias. O programa era também importante gerador de empregos e movimentação da economia local.
Uma das marcas de Julio, o Nova Semente foi o primeiro desmonte da gestão do ex-prefeito feito pelo ‘Governo Novo Tempo’, comandado pelo prefeito atual, Miguel Coelho, PSB com a redução e encolhimento do programa. Nos governos de Lóssio, o Ideb da educação de Petrolina, foi melhor do que em 16 capitais brasileira. Julio também criou as AMEs para atender uma população de 15 mil habitantes por região e levou saúde com melhor estrutura e novos serviços, além do atendendo em horário esticado até às 10 da noite. A maior cidade do Sertão pernambucano, ampliou com as AMEs a atenção básica no Governo Lóssio.
São todas heranças aprovadas pela população, mas parece que não tão bem quiista pelo governo de Miguel Coelho. Todos os feitos em tornar Petrolina mais humana e com olhar nas pessoas, Julio defende agora em sua caminhada como pré-candidato ao governo do estado no Projeto Pernambuco Pode Mais. E Julio Lossio sempre gostou do cheiro de povo, de gente.
