Petrolina nem tentou, e a cidade de Gravatá, Agreste pernambucano, foi escolhida. Em conversa com o vereador Ronaldo Silva, o blog A língua, descobriu que o município perdeu a oportunidade de sediar um dos mais importantes encontros parlamentares do Estado de Pernambuco: O congresso estadual da União dos Vereadores de Pernambuco (UVP).
O congresso se tivesse vindo para Petrolina reuniria em média mais de 1,800 mil vereadores e movimentaria a economia da cidade nos dias 28, 29, 30 e 31 de março, quando será realizado. Mas, já era!
A escolha do município de Gravatá foi oficializada pelo presidente da UVP, Josinaldo Barbosa, na presença do presidente da Assembleia Legislativa de Pernambuco, Eriberto Medeiros (PP), do deputado estadual Cleiton Collins (PP), do prefeito de Gravatá Joaquim Neto (PSDB), do presidente da Câmara Léo do AR (PSDB), do deputado Federal Eduardo da Fonte (PP) e do presidente da Câmara de Igarassu, Ademar Soares (PR).
Na ocasião deverá acontecer à solenidade de votação e escolha da nova mesa diretora da UVP, entidade que há 40 anos tem unido o parlamento do Estado no processo de melhorias das ações municipais. Petrolina está representada pela vereadora Maria Elena, que faz parte da chapa do atual presidente da entidade, e concorrerá a uma das vagas na UVP-Mulher.
“A cada biênio realizamos este encontro para escolher a comissão de diretoria da UVP e optamos por realizar em Gravatá devido a estrutura que o município tem para receber grandes eventos, bem como ao clima aconchegante e povo hospitaleiro.” disse Josinaldo Barbosa.
