Após pouco mais de três meses de internação para tratar complicações de um AVC hemorrágico, morreu o ex-governador de Goiás e ex-prefeito de Goiânia, Iris Rezende, aos 87 anos. A morte foi confirmada na madrugada desta terça-feira (9/11) no perfil oficial do político no Instagram e pela assessoria de imprensa, que divulgou uma nota. No sábado (6/11), ele teve uma piora no estado de saúde e precisou ser novamente intubado em decorrência de uma severa pneumonia.
A informação é que o corpo será velado no Palácio das Esmeraldas, no centro de Goiânia. O sepultamento está previsto para as 17h no Cemitério Santana, na região do bairro de Campinas, também na capital do estado.
Durante o todo o tempo de hospitalização circularam diversos boatos sobre a morte do político. Algumas pessoas, inclusive, chegaram a divulgar a informação, como o senador Alvaro Dias (Podemos-PR). No entanto, a família e a assessoria negaram. Ainda no sábado (6/11), a esposa do ex-governador, Dona Iris, publicou, por meio das redes sociais, que as notícias em relação ao marido não eram procedentes.
“Boa noite, amigos. Iris foi novamente entubado, mas estável. Vamos continuar orando e torcendo pela sua recuperação. Estou postando aqui de dentro da UTI. Está sedado e não procedem as notícias do seu falecimento. Meus agradecimentos a todos”, escreveu Dona Iris no Twitter.
Um dos políticos mais conhecidos de Goiás, Iris Rezende é de Cristianópolis, que fica a 92 km da capital goiana. Trata-se da mesma cidade de Marília Mendonça, cantora goiana que morreu aos 26 anos em acidente aéreo em Caratinga (MG) na sexta-feira (5/11). A artista foi sepultada no último sábado (6/11) na capital goiana.
