Ao ser questionado sobre quantos haviam sido demitidos, Bolsonaro disse que "o presidente e uma meia dúzia da diretoria". "Não estou acusando ninguém de fazer nada errado, mas digamos que foi demitido mais pelo excesso de zelo. Complicou pra eu engolir essa iniciativa deles", concluiu.
O presidente Jair Bolsonaro afirmou, na manhã deste sábado (22/2), que “implodiu o Inmetro“, referindo-se à troca de comando na diretoria do Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia, no último dia 17. Ele anunciou a demissão de toda a diretoria do órgão que confere qualidade técnica aos produtos vendidos no Brasil.A fala aconteceu em frente a um supermercado no Guarujá (SP), para onde o presidente viajou para passar o feriado de carnaval.

O presidente defendeu o nome escolhido por ele para substituir a antiga presidente do Inmetro, Angela Flores Furtado. O coronel do Exército Marcos Heleno Guerson de Oliveira Júnior foi nomeado em seu lugar. “A imprensa vai dizer que eu coloquei um coronel. Não é um coronel. É um cara formado pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME). Então mudamos completamente o Inmetro. Está lá o coronel formado pelo IME, vai me dar um relatório toda semana, quero o Inmetro trabalhando pelo Brasil.”
