A Prefeitura de Petrolina tem enfrentado críticas de um grupo de mães de alunos de creches e de escolas da educação infantil. Segundo elas, além de contratar cuidadores sem formação superior para atuar nas unidades em substituição a professores, o governo municipal escalou homens para o trabalho.
“Sou totalmente contra. Não acho certo um homem higienizar a parte íntima de uma menina. De um menino também”, afirma a doméstica Roseli Alves de Souza.
Segundo a Coordenadora do programa Nova semente em Petrolina, Poliana Castro, os homens contratados e que começaram a atuar é um fato normal. “Já existe a prática de homens ensinando no Nova Semente desde muitos anos atrás. Nós temos professores de música, capoeira e educação física que são homens”, disse.
Poliana Castro ainda enfatizou que para o atendimento integral, com 8h diárias, a resposta é não, e que
todos os professores para esse fim,são mulheres.
A Coordenadoria do programa Nova semente informou que foram aprovados alguns Assistentes Educacionais Infantil (homens), mas a maioria optaram trabalhar nos CMEIs. E os pouquíssimos que optaram pelo Programa Nova Semente, não serão responsáveis por atividades pedagógicas e nem de puericultura.
